The Project

We were extremely excited to take on this project, not only because of its significance as the largest solar array in Seattle, but also how it connected solar with the surrounding community. We were very proud of the final product, as this system will not only be great tool for energy production, but for education too.

The Neighborhood House High Point Center is a 20,000 square foot community facility that offers educational opportunities, gathering spaces and social services for the High Point neighborhood, which was recently redeveloped by the Seattle Housing Authority. An inviting and welcoming place for all, the center offers youth tutoring and enhancement activities, adult education, a teen center, Head Start pre-school program, a wide range of social services and spaces for private events. With A&R Solar’s help, Neighborhood House will save more on their electricity bills, which are funds that can be instead directed to providing social services.

We added 128 new solar modules to the Neighborhood House’s existing photovoltaic (PV) solar system atop its High Point Center in West Seattle. This system is currently one of the state’s largest solar projects with 48.6 kilowatts (kW) of capacity. The additional 128-panel installation will increase the community center’s solar energy output to 73.6 kW.
